WORKSCREEN is a spin off company of the University of Leeds and has 5 Directors: Professor Alan Tennant, Gill Gilworth, Glyn Smyth, Jacqui Smith and Gary Tideswell. Gary is the Director appointed by the University of Leeds where he is the Director of Wellbeing, Safety and Health.

Alan Tennant BA, PhD. Alan Tennant was appointed to the Chair of Rehabilitation Studies at The University of Leeds in 2000. At that time he had recently established the Psychometric Laboratory for Health Sciences, which has since attained an international reputation in teaching modern psychometrics as applied to the development of new, or review of existing Patient Reported Outcomes. He is currently involved with several international research collaborations concerned with measurement, including an ‘Extending Working Life’ programme of work which includes the development and application of Work Instability scales, and the measurement of burnout and associated psychological factors such as depression. To-date he has published over 150 peer reviewed papers on a variety of topics, including epidemiology, health services research, as well as the practical application of Rasch analysis in health outcomes.

Gill Gilworth
Gill is a Chartered Occupational Physiotherapist with a post graduate Certificate in Occupational Health Physiotherapy, a Masters Degree obtained through research (M Phil), and is a visiting fellow at the University of Leeds’ Academic Unit of Musculoskeletal and Rehabilitation Medicine. Her main research interests are qualitative methodology and job retention; Gill has been involved in the development of a number of validated clinical Work Instability Scales and occupation-specific health screening tools (Work Screens). Gill is also a Director of Work Fit Occupational Physiotherapy and Ergonomics Services Ltd.

Glyn Smyth

Glyn Smyth
Glyn is a Chartered Occupational Physiotherapist and is a Registered Ergonomist; gaining a Masters Degree in Ergonomics in 1994. Glyn has substantial clinical experience in managing work-related injuries and occupational health. Glyn has a specialist interest in the management of work-related musculoskeletal conditions and is a keen exponent of a holistic approach to managing these using a biopsychosocial model. Glyn is also a Director of Work Fit Occupational Physiotherapy and Ergonomics Services Ltd. Where he is responsible for the delivery of clinical services; physiotherapy, ergonomics, functional assessments and work-related rehabilitation.

Jacqui Smith

Jacqui Smith
Jacqui is a Chartered Occupational Physiotherapist with a Master’s Degree in Human Factors and a postgraduate Certificate in Occupational Health Physiotherapy. She has worked in the fields of occupational physiotherapy, rehabilitation and ergonomics for more than 35 years. Jacqui has a particular interest and expertise in the systems approach to the prevention and management of work related musculoskeletal disorders with the aim of sustaining productive work. Jacqui is also a Director of Work Fit Occupational Physiotherapy and Ergonomics Services Ltd. Where she is responsible for manual handling services; Jacqui is the editor of the 5th Edition of ‘The Guide to the Handling of People’.
